Digital SLRs

Ever since my beloved cousin dropped my digital camera a month ago rendering it busted I've been toying with the idea of a real-life digital SLR. Clearly, it will have to be one of two cameras though since the reason I bought the Casio Exilim in the first place was that I found that I wouldn't take the camera with me when I went out because I hate having too much stuff on my person (scrip sunglasses, house keys, car keys, wallet) especially since I like to wear rock n' roll jeans that don't have a ton of pocket space. Hey, it's not easy being a rocker.

But I digest...I've been inspired by friends and their keen eye...now all I need is $1000 or so to get the outfitted with the right stuff. If you're gonna go, go big right? Canon has put up a surprisingly neutral overview of the best practices related to digital SLR use. I can't comment on whether or not you should buy a Canon or not, there are plenty of sites where that sort of religion is debated. The tips included in the above site, though, are not brand-specific.
